Love4Cello is a Southern California based cello quartet concentrated in classical and pop/rock repertoire. Our goal is to enrich the lives of our listeners and community through the power of music. Our repertoire includes Bach, Mozart, Telemann, The Beatles, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Duke Ellington, and many more. Lucia Cahuantzi
Lucia Cahuantzi, is a graduate of Renaissance Arts Academy in Eagle Rock California where she was principal cellist of the Corelli Chamber Orchestra and cellist of the RenArts String Quartet. She has been a member of the Los Angeles Junior Philharmonic and was principal cellist of the Olympia Youth Orchestra. She has attended California Summer Music to study with the renowned cello pedagogue Irene Sharp and has Participated in the master classes of Irene Sharp, Cecilia Tsan, David Garret, Bonnie Hampton, Joon Sung Jun and Johannes Moser. A student of Maggie Edmondson, she is currently a Junior at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach studying with David Garrett of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Ben Coyte
Benjamin Coyte is a performer and teacher in the Orange County area. He is a cellist in the California State University Fullerton Orchestra, the Corona Symphony Orchestra, the Montage Civic Orchestra and is principal cello in the Dana Point Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Coyte is also the founder and creative director of the Orange County Collegiate Orchestra (OCCO), a group that performs concerts focused on debuting forthcoming composers, conductors, and performers in Orange County. He has received various awards for his playing in competition, placing 2nd in the 2011 California State University Fullerton Aira and Concerto Competition. Mr. Coyte has also been awarded string musician scholarships from the Warne Family Charitable Foundation in 2008 and the Dr. Charles Baker Cello Scholarship at Cal State Fullerton in 2010 for his talent. He has performed as a soloist in the musical "Beauty and the Beast," in Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Ballet," and most recently in the musical song-cycle “The Trouble With Words.” He has also toured Europe performing in Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, and the Czech Republic with the California State University Fullerton Orchestra.

Christopher McCarthyAs a performer, Chris maintains a healthy balance of classical music and non-classical music. He has performed with the Montage Civic Orchestra, Orange Coast College Orchestra, Irvine Valley College Orchestra and Crystal Cathedral Hour of Power Orchestra, and is a member of the Belmont String Quartet and his cello quartet, Love4Cello. Chris has also recorded on soundtracks for numerous student films, most notably Mitsuyo Miyazaki’s “Tsuyako”, where he is featured as the solo cellist. Chris is also an active musician with the singer/songwriter scene in Orange County, having recorded for such artists as Molly Bryant and Danny Maika. He is the featured cellist in Molly Bryant’s album, Be Brave (produced by John Spiker of Tenacious D, Trainwreck and Filter), and has recently performed at the House of Blues, Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood for its release. In the Danny Maika Trio, he frequently switches between electric cello and electric bass to perform over fifty years worth of music in such venues as Stubrik’s Steakhouse in Fullerton, Muldoon’s Irish Pub in Newport Beach, Beachfire Bar & Grill in Ladera Ranch and Original Mike’s in Santa Ana. Chris has also recorded upright bass and cello for Danny’s ukulele album, which is due for release soon.
As an educator, Chris maintains a busy private studio with students based all around Orange County. He is a bass coach for Fountain Valley High School's string chamber orchestra, and a cello coach for East Whittier Middle School’s string orchestra and the South Coast Youth Symphony Orchestra in Mission Viejo, who recently toured the United Kingdom during the summer of 2011 and Spain during the summer of 2009. Chris recently graduated from The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach with his BM in Instrumental Music. He is currently working on a concert in affiliation with the Fred Peters “Freesax” Foundation for Music Education, a non-profit organization that offer scholarships to his alma mater music programs, the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music and Arrowbear Music Camp. Chris’ current teacher is Joon-Sung Jun. Former teachers include Dr. David Garrett, Karen Linkletter and Steve Velez. |
Claire MehmClaire Mehm received her Master’s of Music in cello performance from California State University Long Beach’s Cole Conservatory of Music where she was a student of David Garrett. While at CSULB she has performed as a member of the University Orchestra and Collegium Musicum. Recently she has performed in the Los Angeles Cello Society concert series and as a participant in the California Chamber Music Institute. She has attended master classes with Anthony Elliott and Julia Lichten at the Aria International Summer Academy.
Prior to her studies at CSULB, Claire attended the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music where she received her Bachelor’s of Music in cello performance. While at Hartt, she studied with Steven Thomas and Mihai Tetal. She was also a member of the Hartt Symphony Orchestra and Collegium Musicum. Outside of school, Claire has been a member of the Hartford Opera Theater Orchestra, the Holberg Chamber Orchestra, the Torrington Civic Symphony, and the Cheshire Symphony Orcestra. She has also performed as part of Hartford’s River Crossings concert series. In addition to teaching at Allegro Music and Belmont Music Studio, Claire is the cello coach at the Renaissance High School of the Arts in Long Beach. |
